Communicable and noncommunicable diseases
The teen disease control and prevention center helps teens that have communicable and noncommunicable diseases. Noncommunicable means that disease is not contagious and cant be spread to other people. The diseases develop over time and are now one of the biggest killers of people. Most noncommunicable diseases are hereditary, environmental, or your lifestyle.
Where you live has a huge roll in the diseases because if your exposed to chemicals that could cause you to get cancer or cardiovascular diseases. You always want to have a healthy diet because obesity is a huge lifestyle that is a noncommunicable disease. Hereditary diseases get passed down from family members, many cancers and other diseases like sickle cell anemia is a passed down non communicable disease.
Noncommunicable diseases
- high blood pressure: when the blood agents the artery is high, there is no symptoms to high blood pressure and you can help prevent high blood pressure from eating less salt.
- stroke: A sudden death of a brain cell from a lack of oxygen, symptoms include trouble talking, understanding, and walking. Normally surgery and rehab is hoe people recover or treat a stroke.
- diabetes: A group of diseases that result with to much sugar in the blood, this can be treated with taking insulin and checking your blood sugar regular. Most diabetes don't have symptoms.
- Arthritis: inflammation in the joints causing pain and stiffness that gets worse in age, medications and physical therapy can help.
A communicable disease is something you get when you pass on germs it is contagious. the disease forms in a virus, bacteria, fungus, and protozoa. the spread of communicable disease spreads from human to human contact, human to animal contact, indirect contact like sneezing and coughing, and other contact like contaminated food.
Communicable diseases
- flu: The flu is short for influenza, symptoms include sneezing, coughing, fever, chills, and head aches. You can treat the flu with medication prescribed by your doctor.
- cold: a upper respiratory tract, the symptoms include a runny nose and sneezing. You can treat a cold with some medicines.
- HIV and AIDS: A sexually transmitted disease, and some STD don't have symptoms and don't even know that the have a disease until they are tested. You can practice abstinence and wearing protection to prevent the spread of the disease.
- Mono: mono is transmitted my saliva like sharing drinks or kissing, some symptoms include fever, rash, and swollen glands. You can treat mono with rest and a lot of fluids, over-the-counter pain medicines.
